Bush School in Centennial Park is about reconnecting city kids to nature

Bush School is a hands-on experiential learning program based on regular visits to the same local bush and woodland for an extended period. The program is based on research and concepts from international best practice in nature education as well as current education models such as Forest Schools and Nature Kindergartens.

Passion is lifted from the earth itself by the muddy hands of the young; it travels along grass-stained sleeves to the heart.
— Richard Louv, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder

Although the Bush School program has been developed and informed by international best practice it is a uniquely Australian concept in that it is based on the heritage and ecology of our unique landscape.

Our sessions include storytelling, games and activities with ecological narratives, free play (climbing, digging, creativity, mud kitchen) and animal movement games. At Bush School children develop empathy, creativity, imaginative play, cooperation and have the space to find their own unique expression.
